There was a small surprise in Greensborough where twelfth ranked Lady Cobras (8-11) edged 9th ranked Diamond Valley Eagles (9-10) 79-77 on Saturday. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Lady Cobras made 9 blocks. It was a great evening for American forward Alisia Jenkins (186-1994, college: S.Florida) who led her team to a victory scoring 21 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Isis Lopes (180, college: UTEP) helped adding 20 points and 4 assists. At the losing side forward Monique Andriuolo (185-1998, college: Pepperdine) responded with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 14 rebounds and power forward Sophie Burrows (184-2004) scored 15 points. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Lady Cobras. They maintain twelfth place with 8-11 record, which they share with Nunawading S. and Launceston T. Loser Diamond Valley Eagles dropped to the tenth position with ten games lost. They share it with Dandenong R.. Lady Cobras will meet at home higher ranked Wildcats (#8) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Diamond Valley Eagles will play against Ballarat Miners in Wendouree and hope to secure a win.
