There was no surprise in Marden where 8th ranked Warriors (4-11) were defeated by third ranked Flames (10-5) 108-99 on Saturday. Flames made 24-of-28 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. Strangely Warriors outrebounded Flames 61-40 including a 20-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. It was a great evening for guard Alex Wilson (181-1994) who led her team to a victory with a triple-double by scoring 24 points, 18 rebounds, 16 assists and 5 steals. Sharna Thompson helped adding 23 points and 5 assists. At the losing side Canadian forward Nicole Fransson (188, agency: DC Sports) responded with a double-double by scoring 29 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists and Emily Winter produced a triple-double by scoring 16 points, 18 rebounds and 10 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Flames. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Southern T. Warriors lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the eighth position with 11 games lost. Flames will meet Panthers (#5) in the next round. Warriors will play against Eagles and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
