There was a minor upset in Condell Park where 7th ranked Comets (11-8) were defeated by tenth ranked Bruins (9-10) 77-72 on Friday. Bruins looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Violet Morrow (176-1997, college: EWU, agency: Interperformances) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 27 points and 17 rebounds (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!) and the other American import forward Britney Wright (178-1994, college: Alabama St.) who added 14 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. Morrow is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. Bruins' coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Power forward Jada Crawshaw (184-2004) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 14 rebounds and naturalized Greek point guard Vanessa Panousis (170-1995, college: Virginia Tech) scored 16 points and 6 rebounds. Four Comets players scored in double figures. Bruins maintains tenth position with 9-10 record. Comets lost sixth consecutive game. They dropped to the sixth place with eight games lost. They share the position with Perry Lakes H. and Darwin S.. Bruins will meet at home Hills Hornets (#15) in the next round where they are favorite. Comets will play against Spireds (#16) in Hornsby and hope to secure a win.
