Regular Season Round 20: Rockhampton C. - NGC Seahawks 78-66

Everything went according to plan in Rockhampton where fourth ranked Cyclones (13-5) won against 8th ranked Seahawks (9-8) 78-66 on Saturday. Cyclones dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Seahawks' 28 and made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. Cyclones forced 24 Seahawks turnovers and outrebounded them 43-24 including a 27-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The game was dominated by American players. Worth to mention a great performance of center Samantha Bowman (188, college: CWU) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 23 points and 17 rebounds and guard Lauren Heard (175-1999, college: TCU) who added 17 points, 7 rebounds, 12 assists and 6 steals during the contest. Guard Alexa Held (178-1999, college: DePaul) responded with 20 points, 8 assists and 4 steals and power forward Erin Riley (180, college: Keiser) scored 12 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Seahawks' coach tested ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Cyclones have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Rockingham F. Loser Seahawks dropped to the fifth position with eight games lost. They share it with N.Adelaide R. and S.Adelaide P.. Cyclones will meet at home Roar (#16) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Seahawks will play against Pirates (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
