Everything went according to plan when ninth ranked Dolphins (10-9) defeated 13th ranked Rip City (5-14) in Cairns 94-88 on Saturday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Forward Shaneice Swain (175-2003) nailed 25 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side and American guard Jennifer Coleman (175-1998, college: Navy) accounted for 15 points, 17 rebounds and 6 assists. Dolphins' coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Carlie Smith came up with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists and American forward Megan Mullings (185-1992, college: Alaska-Anch.) added 18 points and 10 rebounds respectively for Rip City in the defeat. Four Dolphins and five Rip City players scored in double figures. Dolphins moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Townsville F. Rip City lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the fourteenth position with 14 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
