There was an upset in Broadmeadow where 3rd placed Mustangs (14-7) were defeated by eighth ranked Falcons (13-8) 76-68 on Saturday. Falcons outrebounded Mustangs 51-38 including a 42-28 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American guard Anthony Gaines (193-1998, college: Siena) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 steals. Forward Myles Cherry (203-1998, college: Lafayette) chipped in a double-double by scoring 10 points and 18 rebounds. Five Falcons players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was swingman Will Cranston-Lown (185-2000, college: Regis Univ.) who recorded 18 points, 5 assists and 6 steals and American guard Kevin Warren (193-1998, college: Chico St.) added 11 points respectively. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Falcons moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Mustangs dropped to the fourth position with seven games lost. They share it with Sandringham S. and Sutherland S.. Falcons will meet at home Bankstown Bruins (#13) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Mustangs will play against Bandits (#11) in Albury and hope to secure a win.
