Everything went according to plan in McKinnon where third ranked Jets (14-5) beat 5th ranked Cougars (11-8) 96-92 on Saturday. Jets made 20-of-24 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was American forward Gerald Blackshear (205-1997, college: Detroit) who had a double-double by scoring 22 points and 12 rebounds. Guard Nathan Marshall chipped in 17 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Sharif Black (185-1996, college: Bemidji St.) who recorded 36 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 6 assists and the other American import guard Nathan Davis (193-1998, college: Seton Hill) added 17 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Five Jets and four Cougars players scored in double figures. The victory was the third consecutive win for Jets. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Canberra G. and Hume City B. Loser Cougars dropped to the fourth position with eight games lost. They share it with 4 other teams. Jets will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Cougars will play against Storm (#9) in Bellarine and hope to secure a win.
