Not a big story in a game in Tullamarine where 3rd placed Jets (14-5) were defeated by first ranked Hume City Broncos (14-5) 113-104 on Sunday. Hume City Broncos looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was American guard Troyce Manassa (193-1993, college: SSU) who scored 36 points (!!!), 7 rebounds and 7 assists. His fellow American import point guard Christopher Elder (180-1989, college: St.Francis, IL) chipped in 29 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Elder is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. Hume City Broncos' coach Brett Atley used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Ishmael Sanders (188, college: C-N) who recorded 36 points (!!!), 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals (went 12 for 12 at the free throw line !!!) and naturalized Canadian guard Maxwell Barkeley (188-1992, college: Simon Fraser) added 24 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Five Hume City Broncos and four Jets players scored in double figures. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Hume City Broncos. Despite that victory Hume City Broncos went down to second position due to points difference, which they share with Canberra G. and Sunbury J. Hume City Broncos will meet at home Cougars (#4) in the next round. Jets will have a break next round.
