Very expected game in Tullamarine where 10th ranked Steelers (2-19) were defeated by third ranked Hume City Broncos (16-5) 111-105 on Sunday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Hume City Broncos dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Steelers' 44. They outrebounded Steelers 50-35 including a 19-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Hume City Broncos looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. The best player for the winners was forward Corey Fiddes (198, college: CS East Bay) who had a double-double by scoring 23 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists. American point guard Christopher Elder (180-1989, college: St.Francis, IL) chipped in 19 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Elder is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. Hume City Broncos' coach Brett Atley used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Scott Stone (193-1995, college: St.Cloud St.) who recorded 40 points (!!!), 8 rebounds and 5 assists and naturalized British guard Daryl Corletto (193-1981) added 27 points and 9 assists respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Hume City Broncos have an impressive six-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Sunbury J. Steelers lost third consecutive game. They keep the tenth position with 19 games lost.
