Regular Season Round 4: Melbourne - NZL Breakers 97-88
Date: October 22, 2023
Very expected game in Melbourne where 9th ranked New Zealand Breakers (1-2) were defeated by first ranked United (6-1) 97-88 on Sunday. It was a great shooting night for United especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.6 percentage. Worth to mention a great performance of naturalized South Sudanese center Jo Lual-Acuil Jr (213-1994, college: Baylor) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and New Zealand guard Shea Ili (184-1992) who added 16 points and 4 assists during the contest. Five United players scored in double figures. At the losing side American forward Zylan Cheatham (203-1995, college: Arizona St.) responded with 30 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and his fellow American import point guard Parker Jackson-Cartwright (180-1995, college: Arizona) scored 18 points, 5 assists and 5 steals. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. United have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 6-1 record. New Zealand Breakers at the other side keep the ninth place with two games lost. United will meet at home bottom-ranked Hawks (#10) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. New Zealand Breakers will play against Melbourne Phoenix and hope to win that game.
