There was no surprise when 6th rankedAdelaide Lightning (2-5) was defeated on the road by second ranked Townsville Fire (5-1) 67-61 . However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Townsville made 20-of-24 charity shots (83.3 percent) during the game. They also forced 22 Adelaide turnovers. Forward Mikaela Ruef (191-1990, college: Stanford) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 19 rebounds. The former international forward Zitina Aokuso (194-1998) contributed with 23 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. American forward Brianna Turner (191-1996, college: Notre Dame) answered with 7 points, 17 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Isabel Borlase (180-2004) added 18 points in the effort for Adelaide. Townsville Fire have a solid series of four victories in a row. Defending champion used an opportunity after Melbourne lost their game and moved up joining them at the top position. Adelaide lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh place with five games lost.
