Not a big story in a game when 8th rankedMelbourne Phoenix (9-12) was rolled over on the road by second ranked Perth Wildcats (13-7) 100-79 on Saturday. The best player for the winners was American guard Bryce Cotton (182-1992, college: Providence, agency: Pensack Sports) who scored 34 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds. New Zealand guard Tai Webster (193-1995, college: Nebraska) chipped in 20 points and 4 assists. Four Perth Wildcats players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international swingman Mitch Creek (196-1992) who recorded 36 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds and American center Alan Williams (203-1993, college: UCSB) added 12 points and 10 rebounds respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Perth Wildcats have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain second place with 13-7 record having four points less than leader Melbourne. SE Melbourne lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with 12 games lost. Perth will meet Sydney (#4) on the road in the next round. SE Melbourne will play against NZL Breakers (#9) in Auckland and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
