Regular Season Round 37: Ringwood H. - Ballarat M. 78-89

Date: June 23, 2024
Not a big story in a game in Heathmont where 10th ranked Hawks (9-10) were defeated by seventh ranked Ballarat Miners (10-7) 89-78 on Sunday. Ballarat M. made 17-of-17 free shots (100 percent !!!) during the game. Ballarat M. had a 30-19 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American forward Mehryn Kraker (183-1994, college: Green Bay) fired a triple-double by scoring 12 points, 12 rebounds, 13 assists and 5 steals for the winners. The former international forward Chloe Bibby (185-1998, college: Maryland) chipped in 27 points. Guard Annabel Deerbon (180, college: HCU) produced 14 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and Latvian forward Digna Strautmane (188-1998, college: Georgia Tech) added 20 points respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Hawks' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Ballarat Miners. Ballarat M. moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Bendigo and Geelong U. Ringwood lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the tenth position with ten games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
