Very predictable result in Wendouree where second rankedBallarat Miners (13-6) defeated 15th ranked Tigers (7-12) 87-81 on Saturday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Ballarat M. dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Tigers 's 28 and made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. Ballarat M. outrebounded Melbourne T. 41-20 including a 34-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Naturalized Sudanese power forward Majok Majok (210-1992, college: Ball St.) fired a double-double by scoring 20 points and 20 rebounds for the winners. Guard Nicholas Stoddart (188-2000) chipped in 19 points. Five Ballarat Miners players scored in double figures. Ballarat Miners' coach Luke Brennan used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. The former international guard Tom Wilson (195-1997, college: SMU) produced 24 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Jack Purchase (203-1995, college: Hawaii) added 20 points and 6 assists (made all of his ten free throws !!!) respectively for lost side. Despite that victory Ballarat M. went down to third position due to points difference. Melbourne T. lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the ninth place with 12 games lost. They share the position with Perry Lakes H. and Bendigo.
