There was no surprise when 7th rankedSydney City Comets (11-8) were defeated on the road by first ranked Canberra Gunners (17-2) 85-79 on Saturday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Canberra G. looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Canberra G. made 8 blocks. It was a great evening for center Glenn Morison (208-1999, college: St.Edward's) who led his team to a victory scoring 21 points, 8 rebounds and 5 blocks. Forward William Mayfield (-2000) helped adding 12 points, 12 rebounds and 7 assists. Five Canberra Gunners players scored in double figures. At the losing side guard Biwali Bayles (185-2002, college: Hawaii) responded with 25 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists and point guard Matthew Wacher (180-2003) scored 18 points and 9 rebounds. Canberra Gunners have a solid series of four victories in a row. Canberra G. maintains first place with 17-2 record. Loser Sydney City Comets keeps the seventh position with eight games lost.
