Regular Season Round 1: Southside - Canberra 71-80

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Southside Flyers in Dandenong on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by Canberra Capitals 80-71. The former international guard Jade Melbourne (178-2002, college: Arizona St.) stepped up and scored 15 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners and the former international forward Sara Blicavs (188-1993) chipped in 19 points and 9 rebounds. Four Canberra Capitals players scored in double figures. At the losing side the former international forward Isabelle Bourne (188-2000, college: Nebraska) responded with 18 points and 9 rebounds and New Zealand guard Tera Reed (183-1998, college: USC) scored 22 points. Canberra Capitals is looking forward to face Townsville at home in the next round. Southside Flyers will play against Sydney and are hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
