Regular Season Round 2: Melbourne T. - Mt Gambier 77-95

Date: March 29, 2026
Everything went according to plan when Mount Gambier Pioneers defeated Boomers in Melbourne 95-77 on Sunday. They outrebounded Melbourne 48-24 including a 37-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Forward Lara Edmanson (183, college: Villanova) notched a double-double by scoring 23 points and 13 rebounds to lead the effort and the former international forward Kelsey Rees (196-2002, college: Oregon St.) supported her with 16 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists. Five Mount Gambier Pioneers players scored in double figures. Even 26 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists by forward Hannah Giddey (188, college: S.Nazarene) did not help to save the game for Melbourne. Guard Isabella Brancatisano (178-1995) added 21 points and 8 assists for the hosts. Mount Gambier Pioneers will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Boomers will play against Waverley F. in Mount Waverley and hope to win that game.
