Regular Season Round 10: Saints - Airs 105-111

9th ranked Saints (4-8) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 111-105 loss to top-ranked Airs (0-0) in Wellington on Sunday evening. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. Airs had a 28-17 advantage in offensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 60.0 percentage. Airs looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American swingman Anthony Hilliard (195-1986, college: ECSU) scored 41 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import forward Javonte Douglas (203-1992, college: Montevallo) chipped in 21 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists during the contest. At the losing side Australian forward Xavier Cooks (203-1995, college: Winthrop) responded with 32 points and 9 rebounds and American point guard Mike Smith (180-1997, college: Michigan) scored 27 points and 9 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Airs maintains th position with 0-0 record. Defending champion Saints keep the ninth place with eight games lost. Airs will meet at home Bulls (#5) in the next round where they are favorite. Saints will play against Nuggets (#6) and hope to secure a win.
