Very expected game when 5th ranked Hoiho (1-7) was crushed on the road by leader Kahu (8-0) 95-47 on Tuesday. Kahu dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Hoiho's 26. Kahu forced 22 Hoiho turnovers and outrebounded them 38-26 including a 30-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Hoiho's players. The best player for the winners was Marte Grays who scored 25 points and 7 rebounds. The former international guard Akiene Reed (183-1998, college: VCU) chipped in 21 points and 9 rebounds. Kahu's coach felt very confident using entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American power forward Laina Snyder (185-1995, college: Ashland) produced 17 points, 6 assists and 4 steals and the former international guard Samara Gallaher (175-1992) added 13 points and 4 steals respectively for the guests. The victory was the eighth consecutive win for Kahu. They maintain first place with 8-0 record. Loser Hoiho stay at the bottom position with seven games lost. Kahu will meet league's second-placed Whai in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Hoiho will play against Pouakai and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
