The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of Kahu (9-1) at the home court on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by second ranked Queens (7-4) 94-76. It ended at the same time the nine-game winning streak of Kahu. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. They outrebounded Kahu 46-24 including a 33-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. 29 personal fouls committed by Kahu helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of American swingman Jaime Nared (188-1995, college: Tennessee) who helped to win the game recording 28 points and 9 rebounds (made all of her eleven free throws !!!). Argentinian-Italian point guard Florencia Chagas (180-2001) contributed with 22 points, 6 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Four Queens players scored in double figures. The former international guard Micaela Cocks (175-1986, college: Oregon) answered with 24 points and the former international guard Akiene Reed (183-1998, college: VCU) added 13 points in the effort for Kahu. Queens have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain second place with 7-4 record having just one point less than leader N. Kahu. Kahu at the other side still keeps top position with one game lost. Queens will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Kahu will play against Pouakai and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
