Round in Tauihi Basketball Aoteroa means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in where host Kahu (7-3) beat league's leader Hoiho (7-4) 82-75 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Hoiho. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Kahu made 20-of-25 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. American forward Iimari Thomas (178-2000, college: UCLA) fired 29 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. The former international forward Penina Davidson (190-1995, college: California) chipped in a double-double by scoring 15 points and 16 rebounds. The former international forward Zoe Richards (182-1997) produced a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds and American guard Paige Bradley (178-1994, college: Denver) added 20 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Kahu have a solid series of three victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader. Hoiho at the other side dropped to the second place with four games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by N. Kahu. Hoiho will play next round against strong Whai trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Kahu will try to continue on its current victory against fourth ranked Whai at home.
