FIBA Oceania's Youth Ambassador in Samoa has worked magic in the very short time he has been there, and the lack of courts is not a problem. Freshly mowed grass, with lines and rings are providing kids with the opportunity to play.
Samoa's newest basketball centre, Funway Park, was today officially unveiled.
The rings have been installed, the lines have been marked, the lawn freshly mowed and best of all the players are cueing up.
Next week, Samoa basketball will begin clinics at the venue with Primary School aged children. Clinics will run for two weeks on Monday and Thursday afternoons with a 6 week competition scheduled to follow.
Exciting things are definitely happening.

Statistics course a success in Samoa
Samoa's AYAD Darren Thomas has commenced training people in the collection of statistics in preparation for the South Pacific Games in 2007.
Five people were in attendance and all came away from the course with a better understanding of how the program operates and what benefits it has to the game.
The teaching methods used in this session were a little different to that of a typical Cybersports training session. Instead of having a live game to watch, this group used a taped game, which provided a different learning experience.
The group will practice their newly acquired skills at the Independance Day tournament here in Apia to be held next week.

Samoa book semi-final place with big win - 7 months ago
Samoa were dominant throughout their 99-63 win over American Samoa in their third game of the FIBA Men's Polynesian Cup at the N.U.S. Gym last night. Coach Aukusitino Schuster had emphasised fitness in the leadup to the tournament, and the benefits of this were on display in the win.
