Kalisha Keane
Melbourne Boomers (WNBL) strengthened their roster with addition of 27-year old Canadian forward Kalisha Keane (185-89, college: Michigan State). She played most recently at TED Ankara in Turkish TKBL. In 21 games she recorded very impressive stats: 16.1ppg, 7.6rpg, 2.6apg and 2.4spg last season. Great year indeed as she was voted to Eurobasket.com All-Turkish TKBL Honorable Mention.
Keane ended the previous (2014-15) season at Yildizlari (TKB2L) in Turkish league where in four games she averaged remarkable 20.5ppg, 7.5rpg, 2.5apg and 3.8spg. But the most of that year she spent at Elitzur Netanya in Israeli D1. In 19 games she had 14.1ppg, 8.1rpg, 2.2apg and 2.3spg.
Among other achievements Keane's team won Big Ten Regular Season in 2011. She received also All-Big Ten Player of the Year award and All-Big Ten 1st Team award back in 2011 at her college time.
Keane was also a member of Canadian international program for some years. She played for Canadian Senior National Team between 2009 and 2014 and previously for U21 National Team in 2007.
Keane represented Canada at the FIBA Americas in Xalapa (Mexico) three years ago. Her team won Silver and her stats at that event were 6 games: 1.5ppg, 3.0rpg.
Keane has played also professionally in Croatia (Gospic), WNBA (San Antonio Silver Stars) and Israel (Elitzur Holon).
She attended Michigan State until 2011 and it will be her sixth season in pro basketball.
The scouts decsribe her following way:
A forward with great team mentality and court vision, one time descibed by a coach as possessing an IQ for the game which was off the charts. Playes the 4 spot, but has a good outside shot, and passes teh ball almost like a point guard. Croatian experience will help her a lot.
