Aron Baynes' double-double lands him Player of the Week award among Australians playing currently abroad:

We bring you last week's top performances from Australians who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.

Aron Baynes

   #1. This week's number one is an experienced international center Aron Baynes (208-86, college: WSU, currently plays in NBA). He led Phoenix Suns to a victory over the Portland Trail Blazers (28-37) 127-117 in the NBA in Friday night's game. Baynes was MVP of the game. He had a double-double by scoring 37 points and getting 16 rebounds. Baynes also added 2 blocks in 36 minutes on the court. The Phoenix Suns have 26-38 record this season. Baynes has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 11.5ppg, 5.8rpg, 1.6apg, 2FGP: 58.7%(121-206), 3FGP: 36.5% and FT: 74.7% in 41 games he played so far. Baynes has a dual citizenship: Australian and New Zealand. He is currently a member of the Australian senior national team.

Jock Landale

   #2. Second place goes to an international center Jock Landale (211-95, college: St.Mary's, CA, currently plays in Euroleague). Landale could not help Zalgiris (12-16) in their last game on Thursday. Despite his very good performance Zalgiris was edged 76-75 on the road by the league outsider Zenit (#18). Landale was the top scorer with 27 points. He also added 6 rebounds. It's Landale's first season with the team. Landale has relatively good stats this year: 11.0ppg, 4.4rpg, 2FGP: 64.6%(82-127), 3FGP: 30.2% and FT: 82.1%. He is in the roster of the Australian senior national team.

Patrick Mills

   #3. The Australian player who performed third best last week abroad was an international point guard Patrick Mills (183-88, college: St.Mary's, CA, currently plays in NBA). Mills was not able to help the San Antonio Spurs (26-36) in their last game. Despite his very good performance the San Antonio Spurs (26-36) lost 111-116 in Indianapolis to the Indiana Pacers. Mills was the top scorer with 24 points. He also added 3 steals in 23 minutes. Mills is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his eighth year in Spurs' roster. Mills has very impressive stats this season: 11.7ppg, 1.6rpg, 1.8apg, 2FGP: 52.2%, 3FGP: 37.7% and FT: 86.1% in 62 games. He is also a member of the Australian senior national team.

Mangok Mathiang

   #4. Center Mangok Mathiang (208-92, college: Louisville, currently plays in FIBA Europe Cup) contributed to a 1-point Acibadem's victory against the leader Ventspils (5-1) 78-77 in the FIBA Europe Cup in Wednesday night's game. Mathiang recorded a double-double by scoring 15 points and getting the same number of rebounds; quite an impressive performance considering it's only his third season in pro basketball. It was the game of the round between two top 2 ranked teams in group L. Bahcesehir Koleji Istanbul (3-3) is placed second. This season Mathiang has relatively solid stats: 12.5ppg, 10.5rpg and 1.2bpg. He is another player who holds two passports: Australian and South Sudanese. Mathiang is also Australian national team player.

Matthew Dellavedova

   #5. International guard Matthew Dellavedova (193-90, college: St.Mary's, CA, currently plays in NBA) contributed to a 3-point Cleveland Cavaliers' victory against the San Antonio Spurs (26-36) 132-129 in the NBA last Sunday. He had a double-double by scoring 14 points and making 11 passes in 45 minutes. The Cleveland Cavaliers have not so impressive 19-45 record this season. This year Dellavedova's overall stats are: 3.0ppg, 1.3rpg and 3.1apg in 56 games. He plays currently for the Australian national team.

Cameron Bairstow

   #6. Forward Cameron Bairstow (206-90, college: N.Mexico, currently plays in Lithuania) contributed to an easy victory against one of league's weakest teams Nevezis (6-18) crushing them 96-75 in the Lithuanian LKL on Saturday night. Bairstow recorded 12 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. BC Rytas Vilnius (17-7) is placed second in the LKL. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. Bairstow's total stats this season are: 6.9ppg and 3.6rpg. He is a former international player as he played for the Australian senior team four years ago.

Brock Motum

   #7. Former international power forward Brock Motum (208-90, college: WSU, currently plays in Spain) contributed to an easy victory against the tenth-ranked Burgos (12-11) crushing them 95-66 in the Spanish Liga Endesa in Sunday night's game. Motum recorded 11 points and grabbed 4 rebounds (made all of his five free throws) in only a mere 11 minutes. Valencia Basketis placed in the Liga Endesa. This year Motum's total stats are: 6.6ppg and 2.0rpg in 15 games. He used to play for the Australian national team four years ago.

Joe Ingles

   #8. Small forward Joe Ingles (203-87, currently plays in NBA) contributed to an Utah Jazz's victory against the Boston Celtics (42-21) 99-94 in the NBA last Friday. Ingles scored 9 points, had 7 boards, passed 6 assists and added 3 steals. The Utah Jazz has a solid 40-23 record this season. It was his team's fifth consecutive victory in a row. Ingles has been at the team for six years. He has reliable stats this season: 9.6ppg, 4.0rpg and 5.1apg. Ingles plays currently for the Australian national team.

Keli Leaupepe

   #9. U19 international forward Keli Leaupepe (198-0, currently plays college basketball in the States) contributed to a Loyola Mary's victory against the University of San Diego (2-14) 75-61 in the NCAA last Thursday. Leaupepe had a double-double by scoring 23 points and getting 10 rebounds. He also added 3 assists and 3 blocks (was perfect 13-for-13 from the free throw line !!!) in 36 minutes. The Loyola Marymount University has not so impressive 4-12 conference record this season. The Regular Season already ended in the NCAA. Leaupepe has averaged so far 9.0ppg and 3.9rpg in 31 games. He is also in the roster of the Australian U19 national team.

Thon Maker

   #10. Forward Thon Maker (216-97, currently plays in NBA) was not able to secure a victory for the Detroit Pistons (20-44) in their game against the Oklahoma City Thunder (40-24) in the NBA. Maker recorded 5 points, 6 rebounds and 2 blocks. The Detroit Pistons (20-44) were defeated 114-107 in Oklahoma City by the Thunder. It was Pistons' fourth consecutive loss in a row. Maker has averaged so far 4.5ppg and 2.8rpg. He is a former international player as two years ago he still played for the Australian senior national team.

   #11. Former international point guard Josh Wilcher (178-91, college: Cent.Wyoming, currently plays in United Kingdom) was the major contributor in a Plymouth Raiders' victory against the league outsider Manchester Giants 96-90 in the British BBL on Sunday night. He scored 20 points, made 4 passes and 3 steals in 43 minutes. Wilcher has very impressive stats this year: 16.6ppg, 2.9rpg, 7.1apg and 1.2spg in 10 games. He used to play for the Australian national team eleven years ago.

   #12. University international guard Dejan Vasiljevic (190-97, currently studies in the States) helped Miami, FL win their game against the Syracuse University 69-65 in the NCAA on Saturday night. Vasiljevic recorded 17 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. He averaged so far 13.2ppg, 4.3rpg and 1.1apg. Vasiljevic is also in the roster of the Australian university national team.

   #13. University international guard Jonah Antonio (196-97, is currently at the American university), who plays in the NCAA couldn't help the UNLV (12-6) in their last game. Despite his good performance the UNLV lost 61-67 in Boise to the State University. Antonio scored 13 points and grabbed 9 rebounds in 33 minutes. He has averaged so far 6.9ppg and 2.4rpg in 25 games. Antonio is also Australian university national team player.

   #14. Former international point guard Daniel Dillon (193-86, college: Arizona, currently plays in Poland) couldn't help Polpharma in their game against BM Slam Stal in the Polish EBL. He recorded 7 points and added 6 passes. His team was crushed by 40 points 106-66. This season Dillon has very high stats. He averages: 17.0ppg, 2.5rpg, 4.0apg and 2.0spg. Dillon used to play for the Australian national team back in 2009.

   #15. International center Harrison Froling (211-98, college: Marquette, currently plays in Poland) couldn't help one of league's weakest teams Spojnia Stargard in their game against Start in the Polish EBL. He recorded 5 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 18 minutes. His team lost 71-83. Froling has averaged so far 4.0ppg and 4.5rpg in two games. He is also in the roster of the Australian national team.


The list of other players, who all have Australian passport but never been selected to any of Australian national teams:

   #1. Dominic Gilbert (198-G/F-96, agency: Slash Sports, college: UBC, currently plays in Croatia). He could not help KK Zadar (18-3) to beat Gorica (15-6). Gilbert scored 7 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in 32 minutes. The league leader KK Zadar was edged 74-73 on the road by the lower-ranked (#4) Gorica. It was KK Zadar's first loss after three consecutive victories. His team will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And that game will be critical. Gilbert's stats this year are: 11.4ppg, 5.9rpg and 1.8apg in 20 games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: Australian and Croatian.

   #2. Rasmus Bach (193-G-95, college: Fort Lewis, currently plays in Denmark) was not able to help Randers (18-5) in their last game on Saturday. Despite Bach's very good performance the second-placed Randers (18-5) was defeated in an overtime 94-88 at home by the lower-ranked Naestved (#4) in the Pro A group. He recorded a double-double by scoring 17 points and getting 10 rebounds. Bach also added 3 assists and 3 steals (made all of his six free throws). Bach averaged so far 12.4ppg, 6.1rpg, 2.4apg and 1.5spg. He is another player who holds two passports: Australian and Danish.

   #3. Robbie Heath (190-G, currently plays in NCAA2) led West Chester University to a victory against the Lock Haven University (4-12) 83-73 in the NCAA2 in Monday night's game. Heath scored 33 points (!!!) in 35 minutes. The West Chester University has a solid 11-7 record this season. The Regular Season already ended in the NCAA2. Heath has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 23.6ppg, 7.3rpg, 2.6apg and 1.6spg in 28 games.

   #4. Cameron Healy (190-G, currently plays college basketball in the States), who plays in the NCAA was not able to secure a victory for the Albany (7-8) in their last game on Saturday. Despite Healy's very good performance his team was edged 76-73 on their home court in Albany by the Stony Brook University. He recorded 28 points (!!!) and grabbed 4 rebounds. The Regular Season already ended in the NCAA. Healy averaged so far 13.8ppg, 4.0rpg and 2.2apg.

   #5. Mason Peatling (203-F-97, currently studies in the States) contributed to an easy victory against the Idaho State University (3-14) crushing them 100-75 in the NCAA in Thursday night's game. Peatling recorded a double-double by scoring 16 points and getting 14 rebounds. He also added 7 assists. The Eastern Washington University has a very good 14-4 conference record this season. The Regular Season already ended in the NCAA. Peatling plays fourth season for the team. This year Peatling has very high stats. He averages: 17.2ppg, 9.1rpg, 3.2apg and 1.5bpg.

   #6. Experienced Josh Green (198-SF-0, is currently at the American university) contributed to an Arizona's surprising victory against the Washington State University crushing them 83-62 in the NCAA last Thursday. Green scored 12 points, grabbed 4 rebounds and dished 4 assists in 28 minutes. His stats this year are: 11.7ppg, 4.6rpg, 2.6apg and 1.5spg in 29 games.

   #7. Timothy Kearney (201-F/G-86, currently plays in Sweden) managed to help BC Lulea to win against the league outsider Djurgarden crushing them 110-73 in the Swedish Basketligan in Monday night's game. Kearney scored 5 points and added 4 assists. He has averaged so far 4.6ppg and 2.7rpg. Kearney has both Australian and Swedish nationalities.

   #8. Damian Prgomet (208-F, currently plays in NCAA2) couldn't help the Southwest Baptist University (13-7) in their last game. Despite his very good performance the Southwest Baptist University lost 68-80 in Indianapolis to the University of. Prgomet had a double-double by scoring 17 points and getting 10 rebounds in 31 minutes. His stats this year are: 13.1ppg, 7.6rpg and 1.6bpg in 27 games.

   #9. Hunter Marks (206-F, currently plays college basketball in the States) contributed to Hartford's victory against the University of Massachusetts - Lowell 89-75 in the NCAA on Saturday night. Marks recorded 17 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists. He averaged so far 10.4ppg, 6.1rpg and 1.5apg.

   #10. Grant Anticevich (203-F, currently plays college basketball in the States) couldn't help the California in their game against the Oregon State University in the NCAA. Anticevich recorded 6 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists in 33 minutes. His team was badly defeated by 18 points 74-56. He has averaged so far 8.7ppg, 5.4rpg and 1.3apg in 30 games.
