Kody Stattmann claims Australian NBL One weekly honour

Former international Swingman Kody Stattmann (202-F/G-2000) had an amazing evening in the last round for league's leader Cairns Marlins and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents NBL One Player of the Week award for round 11.
The 25-year old swingman had a double-double of 45 points and 14 rebounds, while his team beat Gold Coast R. (#2, 7-2) 103-98. It allowed Marlins to jump to the first place in the Australian NBL One. They maintain a perfect record without any lost game in the league. The season is already in a full swing and Cairns M. still have not lost a single game, getting all 7 victories. In the team's last game Stattmann had a remarkable six three-pointers out of 11 attempts. He just recently signed at Marlins, being already a very valuable addition to the team. The University of Virginia graduate has very impressive stats this year. Stattmann is in league's top in points (7th best: 26.9ppg) and averages solid 68.1% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young American guard Jimmy Whitt (190-G-1997) of second-ranked Gold Coast Rollers. Whitt impressed basketball fans with 43 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Bad luck as Rollers lost that game 98-103 to North's leader Cairns M. (#1, 7-0). It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the top position in North. Gold Coast R. still maintains its place in the top 2 of the standings, even despite this loss. His team's 7-2 record is not bad at all. Whitt is one of the most experienced players at Gold Coast R. and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

The third best performed player last round was Che Brogan (198-F-2006) of Noarlunga City Southern Tigers (#10). Brogan got into 30-points club by scoring 38 points in the last round. He went also for seven rebounds and eight assists. Despite Brogan's great performance the Noarlunga City Southern Tigers lost 116-121 to the higher-ranked Eastern M. (#6, 5-7). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. Southern T. can only dream about fighting for top spots in Central. They have rather bad season and 2-10 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Brogan has individually a great season in Australia. After 12 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in assists with 7.4apg (8th best).

9. Sam Vinson (196-G-2002) of Goldfields G. - 24 points, 18 rebounds and 8 assists
10. Christian Peevy (201-G/F-1998) of Eastern M. - 33 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists
