Melbourne Boomers (WNBL) confirmed in their roster 31-year old international center Cayla George (192-89). She has played there for the last two seasons. She helped them to end the regular season as a second best team in the league. They also advanced to the league semifinals. Good season as she was named League Player of the Week (2 times).
Part of previous (2019) summer George spent at Hobart (NBL1) where in two games she had very impressive stats: 25.5ppg, 17.5rpg and 3.0apg in 2019 season. George also spent pre-season at the Wings in NBA.
She has been also a member of Australian international program for some years. George has regularly played for Australian senior team since 2011 and previously for University National Team back in 2011.
She also represented Australia at the FIBA Asia Cup in India last year. George's team won Bronze and her stats at that event were 6 games: 9.3ppg, 6.5rpg, 2.5apg, FGP: 40.0%, 3PT: 53.3%.
George is quite experienced player. Her career allowed her to visit three different continents, while she played in four different countries. George tasted the life as pro basketball player in Europe, Australia and of course North America. She has played previously professionally also in France (Nantes Reze), Hungary (Sopron Basket), WNBA (Connecticut Sun and Phoenix Mercury) and Australia (Townsville Fire and Flames).
The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others she won Australian WNBL championship title in 2015, 2016 and 2018. George was also voted Australiabasket.com All-Australian WNBL Honorable Mention in 2012 and 2019.
On George: A player who makes more impact from outside than inside, thaks to very good shooting skills even from behind the arc.
