There were only 2 rounds played so far and it's still very beginning of the Regular Season in Local Leagues. The fans could enjoy quite many interesting games in the last round. The round ended with change at the leadership position and favorites losing the games. Here is the last round review presented by ESL.

First defeat of Cougars (0-1) against Flames (1-0) 83-74 was the most important game of the last round. Guard Jackson Hussey (190-92, college: Pikeville) orchestrated the victory by scoring 25 points and 6 rebounds. Forward Justin Beard (196-96) contributed with 15 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. Swingman Luke Travers (201-1) replied with 15 points and 8 rebounds for Cougars. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Cougars will play next round against Redbacks trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Flames will try to continue on its current victory against Buccaneers in Wonthella.
Lightning defeated Buccaneers in North Lake 77-69. American swingman Jay Bowie (196-92, college: Marist) had a double-double by scoring 31 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Rowan Mackenzie chipped in 9 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals during the contest. Swingman Aaron Ralph (200-89) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds. Buccaneers' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Buccaneers will play next round against strong Flames trying to get back on the winning streak. Lightning will try to continue on its current victory against Hawks at Floreat.

A very interesting game took place in Morley. It ended with only three-point defeat on the road of Suns (0-2) to Eagles (1-1) 87-84 on Friday evening. The best player for the winners was Kieran Berry who scored 19 points and 5 assists. Eagles' coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Eagles' next round opponent will be Magic (#14) in Mandurah and are hoping to win another game. Suns will play on the road against Giants in Kalgoorlie and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Very important is a home loss of Eagles (1-1) against Buccaneers (1-1) on Sunday night. Host Eagles were defeated by Buccaneers in a tough game in Morley 88-93. Liam Hunt orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 12 rebounds. Eagles' coach let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Buccaneers will face Flames (#4) in Rockingham in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 2: Willetton T. smashed Kalamunda E.S. on the road 96-68. Warwick S. destroyed Goldfields G. on its own court 98-50. Winless Goldfields G. lost to undefeated Perry Lakes H. in Floreat 65-71. SW Slammers managed to beat Mandurah M. at home 66-62. Perth R. lost to undefeated Joondalup W. on the opponent's court 80-98. Winless Mandurah M. was beaten by Perth R. in a home game 72-83. Lakeside L. won against Willetton T. on the road 75-67.

Perry Lakes H. - Warwick S. 85-83

But Suns were not able to use a home court advantage and were crushed by the opponent from Willetton 96-68 on Saturday night. Tigers made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. They also forced 25 Suns turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Guard Damien Scott (192-92) orchestrated the victory by scoring 18 points, 5 assists and 5 steals. Naturalized British forward Lewis Thomas (203-92, college: WOU) contributed with 8 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Power forward Ryan Blanchett (203-96, college: FNU) replied with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 12 rebounds and guard Jermaine Malie (185-96) added 8 points and 5 assists in the effort for Suns. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Very predictable result when Hawks (2-0) won against Giants (0-2) in Floreat 71-65 on Sunday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Hawks forced 23 Giants turnovers. The former international forward Ben Purser (200-90, college: Augusta) orchestrated the victory by scoring 17 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Tigers' coach gave the chance to play for ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Lightning will face Hawks in Floreat in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Tigers will play at home against Magic (#14) and hope to win that game.
