Melbourne Boomers (WNBL) signed 28-year old New Zealander international guard Ashleigh Karaitiana (183-92, college: Hawaii). She played last summer at RedCity Roar (QBL). In 12 NBL1 South games she had very impressive stats: 21.3ppg, 9.5rpg, 3.8apg and 1.8spg.
Karaitiana also represented New Zealand at the World Championships U19 in Chile nine years ago. Her team got to the Semifinals and her stats at that event were 7 games: 2.3ppg, 2.3rpg.
Karaitiana has played previously for three other teams: Lady Braves, Bendigo Spirit and Brisbane Spartans.
The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others Karaitiana won Australian QBL championship title in 2017 and 2019. She was also voted Asia-Basket.com All-William Jones Cup 1st Team in 2018.
She attended University of Hawaii until 2016 and it will be her fifth season as a professional player.
