Cairns Taipans (NBL) added to their roster 27-year old Australian forward Venkatesha Jois (203cm-104kg-93, college: EWU). He started the season at KK Pirot in Serbian KLS league. In 7 games he had 10.0ppg, 5.6rpg, 1.7apg and 1.3spg. The last season Jois played at Hustle in U.S. NBA-G-League where in 18 games he recorded 5.9ppg and 3.8rpg.
Jois is quite experienced player. His career allowed him to visit four different continents, while he played in six different countries. Jois tasted the life as pro basketball player in Europe, Asia, Australia and of course North America. He has played previously professionally in Croatia (KK Vrijednosnice Osijek), Estonia (Tartu), Germany (Rasta Vechta), Japan (Shiga L-Stars), New Zealand (Rangers) and Australia (United).
The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others he won NBA G League Midwest Division championship title in 2020. Jois was also voted CoSIDA NCAA Division I Academic All-District 8 1st Team back in 2016 at his college time.
Jois attended Eastern Washington University until 2016 and it is his sixth season as a professional player.
On Jois: Venky is a very athletic post player who can score off the drive and shot. He is also a great rebounder. Can spend some time at 5 position too, due to his toughness and his game 'taller than his height'.
