Defending champion Melbourne United (NBL) inked 19-year old German-Togolese 214cm center Ariel Hukporti for upcoming season. Hukporti played most recently at Nevezis in Lithuanian LKL league. In 21 games he averaged 10.4ppg, 7.4rpg (#3 in the league), 1.4apg and 1.2bpg last season.
The previous (19-20) season he played at EnBW Ludwigsburg in German BBL where in 20 games he had just 2.4ppg and 2.1rpg. He helped them to win the regular season and make it to the final. A very good year in his career as he was voted to Eurobasket.com All-German NBBL 2nd Team and League Player of the Week. Hukporti also played for BBA Ludwigsburg U18 team in Germany league that season. In two Adidas Next Generation Tournament games he recorded 13.0ppg, 6.0rpg, 1.5spg and 2.0bpg. The other team he played shortly was Porsche BBA Ludwigsburg U19 team in German NBBL. In 6 games he got impressive 17.7ppg, 9.7rpg, 1.5apg and 2.3bpg.
He represented Germany at the European Championships U18 in Greece two years ago. His stats at that event were 7 games: 10.1ppg, 6.4rpg, 1.6bpg, FGP: 58.5%, FT: 50.0%.
