Illawarra Hawks (NBL) tabbed 27-year old Canadian ex-international 193cm guard Xavier Rathan-Mayes (college: FSU) for new season. Rathan-Mayes played most recently at Washington Wizards in the NBA Summer League.
He was also a member of Canadian international program for some years. Rathan-Mayes played for Canadian Senior National Team in 2017 and previously for U18 National Team back in 2012.
He represented Canada at the World Championships U19 in Prague (Czech Republic) eight years ago. His stats at that event were 9 games: 12.2ppg, 3.4rpg, 2.0apg, 1.0spg, FGP: 38.9%, 3PT: 29.0%, FT: 38.9%.
Rathan-Mayes is a very experienced player. He has played also professionally in Greece (AEK Athens), Israel (Bnei Hasharon), Romania (Sibiu), NBA (New York Knicks and Memphis Grizzlies), NBA G League (Texas Legends, Westchester Knicks and Agua Caliente Clippers of Ontario), Canada (Hamilton) and The Basketball Tournament (Armored Athlete). Rathan-Mayes was also voted to Eurobasket.com All-Romanian League 3rd Team in 2021.
He won NBA G League Atlantic Division championship title in 2018.
Rathan-Mayes attended Florida State University until 2017 and it will be his fifth season in pro basketball.
He is described as: has a great shooting stroke from behind the arc as well as off the dribble and a good understanding of how to create space in the mid-range area.
