There were only 2 rounds played so far and it's still very beginning of the Regular Season in State League. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most exciting game of round 2 in the State League took place in Melbourne. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of Hume City Broncos to Camberwell 91-88 in the game for the fourth place. Camberwell looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Camberwell made 8 blocks. The best player for the winners was Jay Mackenzie who had a double-double by scoring 19 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 blocks. Guard Luke Shelley (188-1991, college: KWC) chipped in 16 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. American point guard Christopher Elder (180-1989, college: St.Francis, IL) produced 37 points (!!!) and 5 assists for the guests. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Camberwell's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Melbourne Gulls.
The game in Melbourne supposed to be also worth to mention about. Jets played at the court of Vikings. Jets smashed Vikings 105-72. Forward Mark Berezdecky (197-1993) orchestrated the victory by scoring 20 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Trevon Clayton contributed with 10 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Edward Bourke replied with 16 points and 7 rebounds for Vikings. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Jets will play against Camberwell in Melbourne in the next round. Vikings will play at home against Hume City Broncos and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game with biggest result difference took place in Werribee. Local Devils outscored Steelers 118-73 on Sunday night. The game was dominated by American players. Maurice Howard scored 40 points (!!!) and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners. Naaman Hightower responded with a double-double by scoring 26 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists (on 10-of-11 shooting from the field). Steelers' coach gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Devils will meet Cougars in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Steelers will play against Hume City Broncos in Tullamarine and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last two games of round 2 winless Chelsea G. lost to undefeated McKinnon C. in a road game 70-97. Sunbury J. beat Western Port at home 89-72.

McKinnon C. - Chelsea G. 97-70

There was no surprise in McKinnon where Gulls were crushed by Cougars 97-70 on Saturday. Cougars outrebounded Gulls 48-28 including a 33-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. American Anthony Kimble (196-1987, college: GSC) had a double-double by scoring 21 points and 21 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and guard Mitchell Barry (190, college: HPU) chipped in 15 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. Kimble is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Cougars players scored in double figures. Point guard Kirk Smith (178) responded with 20 points and forward Aaron Frost (206, college: Dawson CC) scored 12 points and 6 rebounds. Gulls' coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Cougars will meet at home Devils in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Gulls' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Melbourne to the arena Camberwell.

Sunbury J. - Western Port 89-72

No shocking result in a game in Sunbury where Jets defeated Steelers 89-72 on Saturday. American guard Ishmael Sanders (188, college: C-N) scored 26 points and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import forward Gerald Blackshear (205-1997, college: Detroit) chipped in 19 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Jets' coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Naturalized British guard Daryl Corletto (193-1981) responded with 23 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists and Jack Gaze scored 17 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Jets will meet at home Camberwell in the next round. Steelers will play against Hume City Broncos in Tullamarine and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

The most exciting game of round 2 in the State League took place in Melbourne. The game with biggest result difference took place in Werribee. Local Devils outscored Steelers 118-73 on Sunday night. Devils made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. They also forced 24 Steelers turnovers and outrebounded them 42-28 including 17 on the offensive glass. Devils looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 6 passes made by Steelers' players. The game was dominated by American players. Point guard Maurice Howard (185-1997, college: Alcorn St., agency: Green Sports Management) scored 40 points (!!!) and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and forward Kavione Green (195, college: Bloomfield) chipped in 14 points and 14 rebounds during the contest. Worth to mention Howard played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped get the job in pro basketball. Five Devils players scored in double figures. Forward Naaman Hightower (201-1994, college: Sonoma St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 26 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists (on 10-of-11 shooting from the field) and guard Troyce Manassa (193-1993, college: SSU) scored 26 points and 4 steals.
