Southside Flyers Dandenong (WNBL) landed 33-year old former international 189cm center Abby Bishop for new season. It is actually her comeback to Southside Flyers as she has played here before. Bishop played this summer at Casey Cavaliers (NBL1 South). In 6 games just recently she averaged 11.3ppg, 7.0rpg, 3.0apg and 1.0spg. The last season she played at Southside Flyers where in 8 WNBL games she had 13.4ppg, 9.6rpg and 3.1apg. Good season as she was voted League Player of the Week.
She was also a member of Australian international program for some years. Bishop played for Australian Senior National Team between 2008 and 2019 and previously for U21 National Team in 2007.
She represented Australia at the FIBA Asia Cup in India three years ago. Her team won Bronze and her stats at that event were 6 games: 5.0ppg, 2.8rpg, 2.3apg.
Bishop is a very experienced player. And here thanks to pro basketball she experienced life in seven different countries playing on three different continents. She is familiar with European, Australian and of course North American leagues. Bishop has played previously professionally also in France (Tarbes), Hungary (Sopron, Miskolc and Atomeromu), Italy (Bologna), Russia (Dynamo Novosibirsk Region), Spain (Girona), WNBA (Seattle Storm) and Australia (Adelaide Lightning, Townsville Fire, Canberra Capitals, Australian Institute of Sport and Cyclones). She won Australian WNBL championship title in 2007, 2009 and 2010.
Among many awards she was selected to Eurobasket.com French LFB All-Imports Team back in 2017.
Bishop is described as: An undersized center, she has a as a forward body but is a good banger and hustler inside. (via @MiroKojic)
