Perth Redbacks (NBL One West) landed 27-year old former Australian-Latvian international 196cm power forward Lauren Scherf. Scherf moved there from Magnolia La Molisana Campobasso in Italian Serie A1. In 5 games she averaged 6.8ppg, 7.4rpg and 1.4apg. She also played for Perth Lynx in Australian WNBL where in 22 WNBL games she had 14.1ppg, 9.6rpg (#3 in the league), 5.2apg (top 5) and 1.4bpg. It was a very successful season in her career as she was voted to Australiabasket.com All-Australian WNBL Second Team.
Scherf was also a member of Australian international program for some years. She played for Australian Senior National Team between 2013 and 2021 and previously for U22 National Team in 2015.
Scherf represented Australia at the FIBA Asia Cup for Women in Amman (Jordan) two years ago. Her team won Bronze and her stats at that event were 6 games: 9.3ppg, Reb-3 (7.7rpg), 1.8apg, Blocks-2 (1.7bpg), FGP: 46.5%, 3PT: 20.0%, FT: 71.4%.
She has played previously for eight other Australian teams: Sydney Flames, Southside Flyers, Canberra Capitals, Tigers, Knox Raiders, Lady Cobras, Rangers and Diamond Valley Eagles.
Scherf won Australian WNBL championship title in 2019.
