The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Mustangs as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Mustangs smashed bottom-ranked Spiders in Maitland 95-69. Maitland dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Spiders's 40 and had 22 for 32 from the free-throw line, while Hornsby S. only scored two points from the stripe. Maitland forced 23 Hornsby S. turnovers and outrebounded them 60-39 including a 26-14 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Billy Parsons (198-2001) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 12 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. Azerbaijani power forward Michael Diggins (205-1998, college: UIC) nailed a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds for the winning side and forward Issac Abergut (201-1998, college: Shawnee St.) accounted for 17 points and 10 rebounds.
