Kalamunda Eastern Suns (NBL One West) strengthened their roster with addition of 31-year old British 198cm forward Raphell Thomas-Edwards (college: Gannon). It is actually his comeback to Suns as he has played here before. Thomas-Edwards moved there from Bristol Flyers in British BBL league. The team played in three different competitions (!!!) that year, and he had a chance to explore basketball on different levels. In 37 BBL games he recorded 6.6ppg, 5.6rpg and 1.0apg last season. He also played 9 games in European North Basketball League where he averaged 7.7ppg and 5.6rpg. The last summer he played at Suns in Australian NBL One West. In only one game he got 13 points, 8 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 steals.
Thomas-Edwards was a member of British U20 National Team in 2013.
Thanks to Thomas-Edwards' pro career he managed to play on three different continents (Europe, Australia and of course North America). He has played previously professionally also in Germany (TK Hannover) and Australia (Slammers).
His team made it to the British BBL Semifinals in 2022.
Thomas-Edwards graduated from Gannon University in 2015 and it is his ninth season in pro basketball. He played also for The University of Buffalo for 2 years.
The scouts decsribe him following way: Very strong and versatile player. Prototypical 3&D guy who shoots consistently from the outside and is a lock-down defender!.
