NBL One Round 40 (Regular Season): Sturt S. keep a leadership position

The games are now more important than at the beginning of the Regular Season. We may still expect few shocking results in upcoming 8 rounds. The round was exceptionally exciting as three games ended with a tiny margin. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Sturt Sabres as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Sturt Sabres defeated 4th ranked Central District Lions in Pasadena 120-108. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Central District Lions. Sturt S. dominated down low during the game scoring 80 of its points in the paint compared to Central District Lions's 56 and made 22-of-29 free shots (75.9 percent) during the game. Sturt S. looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Sam Daly (193-1995, college: Chaminade) who helped to win the game recording 32 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists (on 13-of-17 shooting from the field) and American guard Jordan Forbes (193-1998, college: Salem) who added 22 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists during the contest. At the losing side guard Koen Sapwell (193-1999, college: CS Monterey) responded with 25 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Sturt Sabres have a solid three-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. C.District L. at the other side keeps the fourth place with seven games lost. They share the position with Hills H. and W.Adelaide B.. C.District L. will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest in order to get back on the winning path. Sturt S. will try to continue on its current victory against seventh ranked Woodville W. in Flinders Park.
Undefeated Rip City (1-1) recorded its first loss in Sippy Downs. Hosts were defeated by eighth ranked Rollers (7-8) 94-77. The winners were led by the former international guard Jason Cadee (186-1991) who scored that evening 9 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists and Reed Nottage supported him with 27 points and 5 rebounds. Even a double-double of 13 points and 14 rebounds by naturalized Maltese power forward Nelson Kahler (206-1994, college: CSU-Pueblo, agency: BIG) did not help to save the game for USC Rip. Gold Coast R. moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Rockhampton and Norwood F. USC Rip at the other side keeps the fifteenth position with one game lost. A very close game took place in Melbourne between Dandenong Rangers and Thunder. Fourth ranked Dandenong Rangers (12-7) got a very close victory on the road over their close opponent Thunder (11-7). Dandenong Rangers managed to escape with a 3-point win 75-72 in the fight for the fourth place. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Thunder. Mason Peatling fired a double-double by scoring 15 points and 16 rebounds for the winners. Trevor Lakes produced 15 points and 7 rebounds for lost side. Thunder's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Dandenong R. maintains fourth position with 12-7 record, which they share with Mandurah. Loser Thunder dropped to the fifth place with seven games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams.
