NZL Breakers sign Matt Mooney, ex Trento

New Zealand Breakers (NBL) signed 27-year old American guard Matt Mooney (189cm-91kg-1997, college: Texas Tech) for upcoming 2024-25 season. Mooney played last season at Dolomiti Energia Trentino in Italian Serie A. In 16 games he had 10.5ppg, 2.4rpg and 3.9apg. He also played for Samsun in Turkish BSL where in 17 games he recorded 11.8ppg, 2.6rpg, 3.2apg and 1.8spg.
Mooney is quite experienced player. He has played also professionally in Germany (Chemnitz), Mexico, Spain (Unicaja), USA, NBA (Cleveland Cavaliers and NY Knicks), Turkey (Darussafaka Lassa and Besiktas), NBA G League (Cleveland Charge, Raptors 905 Mississauga, Memphis Hustle and Capitanes de Ciudad de Mexico), NBA Summer League (Utah Jazz and Utah Jazz White) and The Basketball Tournament (House of 'Paign and Air Raiders).
The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others he won NBA Summer League in Salt Lake City championship title in 2021. Mooney was voted to Big 12 All-Defensive Team back in 2019.
He graduated from Texas Tech University in 2019 and it will be his sixth season as a professional player. Mooney played for other colleges like: University of South Dakota, U.S. Air Force Academy.
