Melbourne United (NBL) signed 23-year old 204cm forward Akech Aliir for the upcoming season. He is not a newcomer in the Australian League as he played most recently at Mt.Gambier in the NBL One. In 24 games he played, he averaged an impressive 18.5ppg, 10.0rpg, 1.6apg, and 1.4bpg last season. He helped them win the regular season. It was a very successful year in his career as he was voted to Australiabasket.com All-Australian NBL1 South First Team. Last season, he played for another Australian team, Adelaide 36ers.
Aliir has played ppg for three other teams: Canberra Basketball, Rockets and Canberra Gunners Academy.
He won the Australian NBL1 championship title in 2022.
