Perry Lakes Hawks (NBL One) landed experienced 36-year old Australian-American international 178cm guard Samantha Whitcomb (college: Washington) for upcoming season. Whitcomb played recently at Bendigo Spirit in the WNBL. In 25 games she was the best scorer with impressive 21.0ppg and recorded 6.6rpg, 4.8apg (top 5) and 2.0spg (in top 4) last season. She helped them to win the WNBL title. It was a very successful season in her career as she was awarded Australiabasket.com All-Australian WNBL Player of the Year and League Player of the Week (2 times).
Whitcomb also represented Australia at the FIBA Olympic Games in Paris (France) last year. Her team won Bronze and her stats at that event were 6 games: 13.0ppg, 3.5rpg, 5.3apg, 1.5spg, FGP: 70.8%, 3PT: 26.1%, FT: 88.9%.
She is a very experienced player. Whitcomb has quite traveled the world as her pro career brought her to six different countries on three different continents (Europe, Australia and of course North America). She has played previously professionally also in Germany (TSV 1880), Slovakia (Nova Ves), Turkey (Galatasaray), WNBA (New York Liberty and Seattle Storm) and France (Villeneuve and Basket Lattes Montpellier Agglomeration) and Australia (Perth Lynx, Flames and Tigers).
It may be one of last seasons in her extensive career, which she may end at Hawks.
Whitcomb graduated from University of Washington in 2010 and it is her 15th (!!!) season in pro basketball.
