Swingman Jonah Pares (192-G/F-2003) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Penrith Panthers, receiving a Hoops Agents NBL One Player of the Week award for round 8.
The 21-year old player had a double-double of 21 points and 19 rebounds, while his team beat Inner WB (#12, 3-6) 86-71. The game rather meaningless between the teams, which do not have any influence on top of the standings in east. Panthers maintains the 14th position in their group in the Australian NBL One. Too late to salvage the team, which is currently ranked such low. They already lost 7 games and recorded just three victories. Pares just recently signed at Panthers, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Jonah Pares averages this season 10.6ppg, 6.7rpg and 5.4apg.

The second best player in last round's games was young American BJ Mack (203-F-2000) of Nunawading Spectres. Mack had a very good evening with a double-double of 21 points and 18 rebounds. It was enough for Spectres to edge the lower-ranked Ringwood H. (#17, 3-7) 95-94. This victory allowed Nunawading S. to move up to 8th position in south. His team lost some distance to top teams. But a 6-4 record is not bad and everything may still change. Mack is one of the most experienced players at Nunawading S. and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

Third on the list of top players last round was forward Matthew Gray (203-F-1999) of Albury Wodonga Bandits (#16). Gray got into 30-points club by scoring 34 points in the last round. He went also for fourteen rebounds . He was a key player of Bandits, leading his team to a 100-86 easy win against the higher-ranked Cent.Coast C. (#11, 4-5). Albury W.B. can only dream about fighting for top spots in east. They have rather bad season and 2-7 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Too bad for Gray he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Gray has a very solid season. In 9 games in Australia he scored 18.7ppg.

The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
