Ben Ayre was the second top scorer in the whole world yesterday having an unbelievable 40 points in his last game in the Sandringham Sabres

40 points scored by 30 year old guard Ben Ayre (188-G-1995, college: Newman) gave him the award of second highest scoring player of the day in the world. His team the Sabres beat the Dandenong Rangers 112 to 105. He also grabbed 3 rebounds and got 8 assists that game.
He is a very experienced player. Thanks to his pro career he managed to play on three different continents (Europe, Australia and of course North America), in four different countries. He has played previously professionally in Australia (Adelaide 36ers, Marlins, Taipans and Raiders), Germany, Lithuania (Mazeikiai), and New Zealand (Saints).
His team made it to the NBL Semifinals in 2023 and 2025.
Among many awards he was selected to the Australiabasket.com All-Australian NBL1 First Team in 2023. Ayre was also selected to the All-Heartland Conference Second Team back in 2019. He was selected as the Australiabasket.com All-New Zealand NBL Award 2024 Honorable Mention in 2024.
