Cairns Taipans (NBL) added 22-year-old Australian ex-international guard Reyne Smith (188cm-86kg-2002, college: Louisville) to their roster for the new 2025-26 season. He played last season with the Washington Wizards in the NBA Summer League. In just one game recently, he recorded 5 points, 1 rebound, 1 assist, and 1 steal.
He just graduated from the University of Louisville with averages of 13.0ppg, 2.7rpg, 0.8apg, and 0.6spg, and it will be his first season as a pro.
Smith has been a part of the Australian international program for several years. He was selected for the Australian Senior National Team in 2021 and had previously represented the Under 19 National Team in 2021. Smith participated in the final of the ACC Tournament in 2025.
He was named to the CAA All-Tournament Team in 2024. Smith also played for the College of Charleston for 3 years.
