An interesting game for Cougars (16-5) which hosted in McKinnon one of their biggest challengers Suns (14-7). Third ranked Cougars managed to get a 14-point victory 86-72. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Suns. McKinnon C. made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Alisha Lewis (170-2001, college: Georgia) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 15 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists. Guard Emily Suckling (168, college: California, PA, agency: Crossover Management) contributed with 29 points for the winners. Cougars' coach Nathan Geer used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Melissa Prior replied with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds for Sherbrooke S.Cougars have an impressive ten-game winning streak. McKinnon C. maintains third position with 16-5 record having just two points less than leader Bellarine. Sherbrooke S. at the other side keeps the fourth place with seven games lost. They share the position with Bulleen. McKinnon C. are looking forward to face league's second-placed Pakenham W. on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. At the losing side Michaela Kuen responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 15 rebounds. Warrnambool (2-18) moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Wyndham D. Warrandyte V. lost seventh consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with 18 games lost. Warrnambool will play against bottom-ranked Wyndham D. (#10) in Werribee in the next round. Warrandyte V. will play at home against Wyndham D. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Big V top team - Storm (18-3) had no problems winning another game on Saturday. This time they crushed ninth ranked Devils (2-18) in Werribee 90-62. The winners were led by Georgia Varley who scored that evening 21 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Even 13 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists by Ella Macleod did not help to save the game for Wyndham D.. Devils' coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Bellarine maintains first position with 18-3 record. Wyndham D. lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom. They share the position with Warrnambool. Bellarine will meet Sunbury J. (#6) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Wyndham D. will play against Warrnambool (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
