Cairns Taipans (NBL) signed 29-year old Australian international forward Jack McVeigh (203cm-98kg-1996, college: Nebraska) for the upcoming 2025-26 season. He played last season with the Atlanta Hawks in the NBA Summer League. In four games recently, he had 14.0ppg, 2.5rpg, and 1.0apg. During the last season, he played with another NBA team, the Rockets. He also played for the Valley Vipers in the NBA G League.
McVeigh has also been a member of the Australian international program for some years. He has regularly played for the Australian senior team since 2014 and previously for the University National Team back in 2017.
McVeigh also represented Australia at the FIBA Olympic Games in Paris (France) last year. During this event he scored an average of 9.5 ppg and had 3 rpg.
He has played professionally in Germany (MLP Academics Heidelberg) and Australia (Adelaide 36ers, Seahawks, and JackJumpers).
He won an Australian NBL championship title in 2024. He was voted to the Australiabasket.com Australian NBL All-Domestic Players Team in 2024.
McVeigh graduated from the University of Nebraska in 2018, and it'll be his 8th season as a pro player.
