Hume City Broncos looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. American forward Kavione Green (195, college: Bloomfield, agency: Dominion Sports Group) stepped up and scored 33 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds for the winners and New Zealand Zach Mckenzie (-2002) chipped in 20 points, 10 rebounds and 9 assists. At the losing side American point guard Anthony Williams (178-1995, college: Clark Atlanta) responded with 29 points and 8 rebounds and the other American import forward Gerrard Newby (196-1995, college: Union, KY) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.

Melbourne Uni was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. American power forward Shannon Fowler (203-1993, college: UWG) nailed a double-double by scoring 16 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side and forward Shaquille Maharaj (196-1997, college: Camosun) accounted for 24 points and 7 rebounds. Four Cougars players scored in double figures. Cougars' coach Adam Walsh allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Samson Rocker came up with 13 points and 9 rebounds and American guard Jamir Moultrie (185-1997, college: Canisius) added 22 points and 4 steals respectively for Melbourne Uni in the defeat.
