The Illawarra Hawks (NBL) signed QJ Peterson, a 31-year-old American point guard who stands at 183cm. Peterson, who played college basketball at VMI, was most recently with Assembly Ball in the U.S. He is represented by JCK Sports Group.
In 2018, a year after graduating, he was drafted by Lakeland Magic (G-League) in the first round (24th overall).
He graduated from Virginia Military Institute in 2017 and it'll be his ninth season in pro basketball.
Peterson is a very experienced player. He has quite traveled the world as his pro career brought him to ten different countries on four different continents (Europe, Asia, Latin America and of course North America). Peterson has played professionally in China (Jilin Tigers, Flying Tigers and Monkey Kings), Cyprus (APOEL Nicosia), Denmark (Bakken Bears), Puerto Rico (Vaqueros), Turkey (Gaziantep), Ukraine (Mykolaiv), Czech Republic (USK Praha), South Korea (Anyang), NBA Summer League (NY Knicks) and The Basketball Tournament (GCG, Gutter Cats and Dream 34). He was also voted to Asia-Basket.com All-Chinese League Honorable Mention in 2025.
Peterson won the Danish League championship title in 2021.
