This includes increasing broadcast viewership and digital engagement. That’s why the league has been partnering with many platforms and services to fulfil these goals. They wanted to enhance the overall game-day experience for fans across Australia and New Zealand.

A Collaboration with Tradable Bits

One of the ways that NBL has provided more to the fans is through its partnership with Tradable Bits. Tradable Bits itself is a fan-based technology company. It offers partners more ways to connect with their community or users through various mediums and channels.

By partnering with Tradable Bits, NBL can build a more personalised connection with their loyal fans. In addition, NBL is looking for ways to provide more interactive experiences. NBL commercial partners will also get a wider range of promotional assets to increase their reach.

NBL has done the right thing by partnering with a platform with fans in mind.

The Play It Loud Campaign

For the upcoming 2025-2026 Hungry Jack’s NBL26 season, the NBL revealed a fresh brand platform and national push under the banner ‘Play It Loud’.This campaign aims to change the NBL’s branding, from traditional sports to cultural relevance that can connect better wth younger fans.

In short, Play It Loud reshapes basketball as a space for lifestyle and self-expression, allowing fans to see the game beyond just on-court performance. Ted Helliar, NBL Group Chief Fans Officer, stated that the campaign is planned as a direct response to the fantastic growth they’ve seen over the years. Not only during active seasons, but also off-season. It’s also their way to celebrate new talents coming into the League.

They noticed that fandom is now culture-first, and not code-first. The NBL had seen fans go beyond just watching the game, but they remix, wear, and consume it. As the original energy that’s built on fans, the NBL wanted to host more than just games. They want to build that new fan culture and rhythm; that’s why they named the campaign ‘Play It Loud’ to ensure their shift is heard.

They also realised that the direction they’re going towards is far from traditional. Yet, it’s bold and unapologetic, very in line with where the league is heading as they find better ways to stay connected to their fans.

Interactive Programs

NBL teams have been doing many interactive campaigns over the years. One of the examples is how the Perth Wildcats took advantage of their overseas preseason tour to include fans in both their home and Japan. They launched a trivia game that featured a leaderboard listing scores from Perth Wildcats players. Thus, fans who did the trivia game can compare their scores with these players.

JackJumpers also has a gamified giveaway every Tuesday. Fans can win tickets, merchandise, and more while making the giveaway more fun through various games. As they’re doing the campaign weekly, fans will have a specific day to be excited about and will likely keep checking once they’ve participated.
