35-year old guard Nathan Sobey (190-G-1990) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for South East Melbourne Phoenix and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 18.
He had the game-high 36 points adding seven rebounds and five assists for SE Melbourne in his team's victory, helping them to beat NZL Breakers (#7, 7-11) 92-80. Phoenix maintains the 3rd position in Australian league. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. SE Melbourne will need more victories to improve their 11-6 record. In the team's last game Sobey had a remarkable seven three-pointers out of 16 attempts. He turned to be Phoenix's top player in his first season with the team. University of Wyoming graduate has very impressive stats this year. Sobey is in league's top in points (5th best: 21.5ppg) and averages solid 50.4% FGP.

Second best performed player last round was Javale McGee (213-C-1988) of Illawarra Hawks. He is American center in his first season at Illawarra H.. In the last game McGee recorded an impressive double-double of 30 points and 10 rebounds. Of course he led Hawks to another comfortable win 100-85 over slightly lower-ranked Brisbane (#9, 5-13) being unquestionably team leader. Illawarra H.'s 8th position in the standings has not changed. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 6-10 record. McGee is a newcomer at Illawarra H. and quickly became one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 22.3ppg (#4). He also registered 10.6 boards per game.

Third place about best performers goes to guard Kendric Davis (183-PG-1999) of Sydney Kings (#5). Davis got into 30-points club by scoring 38 points in the last round. He went also for five rebounds and eight assists. He was a key player of Kings, leading his team to a 108-79 easy win against slightly higher-ranked Perth (#4, 10-8). Sydney needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 9 victories and 7 lost games. Davis has a great season in Australia. After 16 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 23.3ppg (3rd best) and assists with 5.1apg (6th best).
