35-year old guard Nathan Sobey (190-G-1990) had a great game in the last round for second-ranked South East Melbourne Phoenix and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 24.
He had the game-high 37 points adding six rebounds and four assists for SE Melbourne in his team's victory, helping them to beat Illawarra H. (#8, 8-15) 124-113. Phoenix maintains the 2nd position in Australian league. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. SE Melbourne will need more victories to improve their 16-8 record. In the team's last game Sobey had a remarkable 76.9% from 2-point range. He turned to be Phoenix's top player in his first season with the team. University of Wyoming graduate has very impressive stats this year. Sobey is in league's top in points (4th best: 22.8ppg), assists (7th best: 4.7apg) and averages solid 55.8% FGP.

Second best performed player last round was Kendric Davis (183-PG-1999) of Sydney Kings. He is American guard in his first season at Sydney. In the last game Davis recorded an impressive 30 points, 4 rebounds and 6 assists. Bad luck as Kings lost that game 117-124 to slightly higher-ranked SE Melbourne (#2, 16-8). It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Sydney still maintains its place in the top 3 of the standings, even despite this loss. His team's 15-9 record is not bad at all. Davis is a newcomer at Sydney and quickly became one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 23.0ppg (#3). He also recorded 5.8 assists per game.

Third place about best performers goes to Samson Froling (209-C/F-2000) of Illawarra Hawks (#8). Froling scored 22 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. Despite Froling's great performance the Hawks lost 113-124 to the higher-ranked SE Melbourne (#2, 16-8). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. The chances of Illawarra H. not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 15 games, recording just eight victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Froling could try to bring Illawarra H.'s a little bit higher in the standings. Froling has a very solid season. In 5 games in Australia he scored 14.2ppg.

4. Jack McVeigh (203-F-1996) of Cairns - 20 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists
